73rd Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia
Victoria is renowned for its multiculturalism. People from all over the world have chosen to make their home here in Victoria, bringing with them their experience, their heritage and their culture. Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Victoria and Australia a great place to live.
This diversity brings with it new ideas and opportunities, and has been integral in shaping the Victoria we have today. It extends our skills, attracts business, creates new jobs and strengthens our connected and cohesive state.
National Days are an opportunity to showcase unity in diversity, promote social cohesion, and encourage cross-cultural understanding and engagement.
I take this occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia to congratulate the Indonesian community for enriching the state of Victoria with energy, ingenuity and enterprise.
A big thank you to Indonesian Consulate General for hosting a wonderful diplomatic reception celebrating this special occasion.
